An individual’s bedroom, closet, or even bathroom has the ability to reveal much about their personality, what they value, or their interests. This project serves to explore that idea: getting to know someone through their personal space. Each photograph attempts to authentically capture different aspects of an individual using their room. The wide variety of objects, decor, and organization all blend together to convey something about the owner. Some of the rooms are messier while others are seemingly spotless. One might wonder if these qualities are reflected in the individual’s personality or how they go about life. Some walls are riddled with posters, tapestries, or even poems while some are left blank. Drumsets, skateboards, lacrosse sticks, and shelves of footwear can also be found, all leaving the viewer with a better impression of the person who owns each room. Moreover, the technical approach lends the photos to appear as if they are taken from a security camera or something akin, almost as if the viewer is intruding on this intimate aspect of one’s life and is not supposed to see all that they do.
